Non-Transmitted Diseases in Patients with Marrow Injuries Admitted at CIREN: Methodological Guidelines

Worldwide a lot of people die from chronic diseases every year. The world incidence of post-traumatic marrow injuries is high, which constitutes a devastating clinical situation due to the functional and the individual independence loss it entails. Practicing physical exercises by the marrow injuries patients is part of the neuro-rehabilitation programs. It intervenes in the primary and secondary prevention of co-morbidities such as cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, diabetes, hypertension, obesity. An observational, descriptive, and longitudinal study was carried out to describe the behavior of non-transmitted diseases in patients with marrow injuries admitted at the International Centre of Neurologic Restoration (CIREN by its Spanish acronym) in five years. An observational, descriptive, and longitudinal study was developed. The sample was made out of 40 patients. Different variables were analyzed such as age, sex, and personal pathological backgrounds. Theoretical methods were used (historical-logical, analysis-synthesis), also empirical (consultation of official documents), and statistical (descriptive measures for the study variables). The sample studied was made out of more male patients than females, aged between 25-35 years old. 15 patients suffered from ischemic heart disease, while 10 from obesity. These were the chronic diseases with the highest prevalence.
