Abstract

The present work is been of the doctoral thesis Genesis and diffusion of the Physical Education in Cuba: (1800-1901), and it already constitutes a synthesis of a work finished on a significant group of Cuban personalities that during the XIX century and principles of the XX one pled in favor of the importance of the physical education and the sport. One of these personalities is the sage and hygienist Tomás Romay Chacón, precursory enthusiast of the attention to the body through the physical exercise to the one angers free and pioneer in the diffusion of the olympic ideal in Cuba.
