ANTHROPOMETRIC INDICATORS AND ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION IN CUBAN SCHOOL WEIGHTLIFTERS

Abstract

ABSTRACT
In Cuba, lifting weights women was included in the National School Games since 2011. Being a relatively new discipline of formalization, there is little information about the characteristics of sports training at these ages. The research aimed to analyze the behavior of anthropometric indicators and fundamental sport participation in lifters who participated in the National School Games in the years 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 (category 15-16 years; N = 200). The methods and techniques used include reviewing documentary sources, measurements and interviews with athletes and coaches. Participation indicators studied were the completion of the call, the age distribution, provenance and experience in sports weights of competing; and anthropometric the relationship height-weight division and córmico index. The results demonstrated progress in the indicators analyzed participation, although figures of the age distribution and sports origin have not yet reached the optimal values. Regarding the anthropometric indicators in relation height-weight division improvement was observed, but this was not homogeneous for all divisions. Córmico data rate lifters show a clear improvement over the initial year analyzed, showing that athletes come to the right for the sport body proportions.
