Baseball as cultural and recreative expression of santiago de cuba people
Abstract
Baseball is one of the favorite pastimes of Cuban people. However in the recent finalized Series of games in Santiago de Cuba some manifested attitudes were far away from the real cultural and recreational meaning of this sport. Language as a social practice reflects the cognitive and cultural values of each community. The article is concerned about three main aspects: How to study the speech in sports event in which lack of manners is the general rule? How to explain the use of this lack of manners in the sport dynamic? In which ways the impoliteness ravels with the cultural values of the sports dynamic. To answer these questions the qualitative methodology was used in order to study, describe and explain the use of verbal forms, the characterization of the social sport environment in Santiago and the analysis of cultural community values in this kind of event.
