The sports spreading at the Laic University Eloy Alfaro de Manabí: a necessary reflection

Abstract

The worldwide sport practice at the universities not only offers to the student´ s health and participation in sports events, but also allows them to have better visibility, position and participation at international ranking. Criteria shared by several governments that help with financial resources. This paper shares ideas on the diagnosis results of the sports diffusion at the Laic University Eloy Alfaro de Manabí at the Republic of Ecuador. Empirical methods as interview and survey were applied. As main result are found the insufficient conceptualization of the sport practice as an integral formation of the students, expressed at the lack of presence of subjects, lessons, in the curriculum designs of the mayors offered by the institution; as well as the lack of organizational and directive strategies to guarantee the widening of the sport.
