Abstract

In the present investigation a study of the behavior of the movement characteristics is made from the use of the mechanical energy stored in the muscles during the march in patients with Spinocerebellar Ataxia type 2. The contact mat was used as measurement instrument, similar to that used by Bosco et al. (1982), which made possible the evaluation of nine patients who systematically attend the rehabilitation ward of the Cacocum municipality, Holguín province. Two of the jumps proposed in the Bosco et al. Test were used. (1982): the Squat Jump (SJ) or jump without countermovement and the Counter Movement Jump (CMJ) or countermoving jump. The processing of the data was done with the Wolfram Matemathic 9.0.1 software. The analysis of the results allowed to find the value of the mechanical energy stored in the muscles of the lower extremities, as well as to diagnose in what percent is used by each patient.
