The practice of therapeutic yoga in the improvement of arthrosis in the elderly
Abstract
The practice of yoga in Cuba has gained an important space in daily life, is a valuable ingredient in the physical culture of the nation, is a system of exercises that contributes to the improvement of the quality of life of those who practice it. Cuban universities have among their work strategies a close link with community work, to the above-mentioned contribute in a special way the different programs of Physical Culture, whose main task is to systematically strengthen the health of the population. The present work was developed with a class group of older adults, belonging to the surrounding community of the University of Medical Sciences of Holguín. We propose a set of adapted Yoga techniques that can be practiced by elderly people suffering from Arthrosis. In its execution, investigative methods were used in correspondence with the proposed objective. Of the theoretical methods: the bibliographical consultation, the logical historical and the systemic approach. Among the empiricists, observation, survey and measurement were used and, as a statistical method, the percentage calculation.
