CONSIDERATIONS ON LEADERSHIP IN SPORTS

Abstract

The article socializes a different vision in terms of the way in which the management work should be assumed by the sports trainer in the current context. Due to the high competitive level reached by contemporary sport, increasing demands are placed on coaches, requiring them to be more competent and effective in their functions. The paradigm of technical director, recognized as the figure capable of moving the reins of the team based on his authority, based on the patriarchal tradition, is being overcome by a vision based on leadership, which responds better to the great speed with which there are changes in the conceptions of training and competences as a result of the impetuous emergence of new information and communication technologies, technical scientific advances, novel concepts and knowledge, which leads to work in multidisciplinary teams where each one can contribute his talent around the effective leadership of an influential personality.
