Sports Decision-Making Statistics: a Theoretical Contribution

Coaches been prepared and updated toward applying statistics as their functions, influencing their professional sport performance have been insufficient. That´s why the aim of the study was oriented toward the theoretical foundation of the pedagogical model of the coach professional improvement to apply statistics as his functions and decision-making in sports based on hypothesis. Scientific methods have been used along this research. It was used a random sample of 16 out of 46 coaches from the Sports Major at the University of Oriente. This constitutes a theoretical review which made possible diagnosing the insufficiencies when applying statistics, specifically the pedagogical dimension along with its methodological preparation to assume this science as an essential element in the trainers´ functions. The postgraduate courses developed so far do not comply with the teachers´ overcoming demands and needs. In that sense, this study allowed reaching a superior level of such preparation influencing their development, by using and applying statistics to contribute to the scientific-methodological improvement and its effectiveness.
