The annual preparation in a recreational triathlete
Keywords:
Periodization, sport training, intensity distribution, enduranceAbstract
In this study, the training load distribution during the Transition Phase, General Preparatory Phase, Specific Preparatory Phase, and Competition Phase was described in a recreational triathlete. The weekly training time in each stage was calculated, likewise the weekly time of
training in each metabolic intensity (Zones 1 -3). Regarding the time spent in each intensity, significant differences were found between the Transition Phase, the General Preparatory Phase and time spent in Zone 2 (3h:33min ± 1h:19min vs 5h:19min ± 1h:54min) (p<0,05). No meaningful differences were shown between the other phases. Relevant differences were observed between the % of training time in Zone 1 during the Transition Phase and the General Preparatory Phase (85,9 ± 17% vs 60,8 ± 9,9% respectively)(p<0,05) and in Zone 2 at the same phases (13,9 ± 16,6% vs 35±10,3%) (p<0,05). It was not observed a significant variation in the training volume or a change in the training intensity distribution between the main phases of the season.
