The effect of physical-therapeutic exercise on spinocerebellar ataxia type 2
Keywords:
Ataxia spinocerebellar type 2 physical-therapy exercises, rehabilitationAbstract
Hereditary ataxias represent a health problem in Cuba and specifically for the province of Holguín, where it concentrates an increasing number of patients and relatives at risk. This issue has been approached from different angles, but a predominance of the neurological evaluation on the physical-therapeutic one, an issue that arouses the scientific restlessness in a group of researchers of the Center of Research and Rehabilitation of the Heritable Ataxias (Cirah) in the province of Holguin. Therefore, a group of physical and therapeutic exercises is proposed for the evaluation of the effect of the same in patients of Spinocerebellar Ataxia type 2. After the proposal is applied, a positive result in the gait, balance and coordination is observed. Significant increase in the percentage of subjects studied, after the application of therapeutic physical exercises. Physical-therapeutic improvement was observed in the patients studied.
