Abstract

The research was aimed at finding causes of the decline in international results and Cuban records in the 4x100m relay races. In these races there are 3 changeover zones of 30m each, for a total of 90m, leaving 310m where the runners run free at their maximum speed. A good job in relay training must attend to the 400m, but it is in the 90m where there are more technical demands, consequently, where more mistakes are made, it is also an area in which, if the runners do not fit well, they lose a lot of speed and with it the possibility of better times. Documentary review and analysis were used as fundamental methods to determine the technical indicators and to know the marks of the Cuban 4x100m relay from 1968 to 2021. The results allowed detecting that Cuba demonstrated to be able to do a job of excellence in these races. during the second half of the last century, but after analyzing the behavior of the results of these races in the present century, it is seen that the quality of the technical work is not sustained, not only lagging behind the world elite where it once was, but also to their own brands, which they do not currently approach.
