Strategy for managing baseball teams of U12 category of little leagues

Abstract

Baseball in Cuba is the national pastime par excellence, approved with deserved distinction as a national heritage of Cuban culture. Over time, it has gained a high number of followers, especially the U12 category, motivated by the successes achieved in the Little League event,  organized internationally by Little Leagues Corp., which Cuba officially joined in 2019. The province Granma, in the different baseball categories, has achieved outstanding and sustained results that place it in the first places at national level. In the little league championships held in Cuba, Bayamo was national champion in 2020, runner-up in 2022 and revalidates the title of champion in 2023. Despite these achievements, the correct planning, organization, control and evaluation of the strategy in the team management to work with this category is insufficient. The objective of this article is to: offer a strategy for team management with a holistic-systemic-sequential nature, based on physical, technical-tactical, theoretical and psychological preparation, also based on medical control, physioprophylactic, psychosocial actions on the training and competitions. For its development, methods and techniques such as: brainstorming, observation, interviews and document review, that allowed data collection, consultation and analysis, were used. The application of the strategy provided the necessary knowledge to the team managers and the attainment of competitive success.
