Aims and scope
DeporVida is a national and international scientific electronic journal launched in 2004. It belongs to the University of Holguin. Its ISSN is 19-4028. Its mission aims at spreading original articles concerning the areas of Physical Education and Recreation, Sports, Physical and Preventive Culture, and Applied Sciences; likewise, the professional training to contribute with the formation and scientific updating of professionals and specialized readers in these branches of the human knowledge. Its vision is to become a national and international journal referent, in constant development with high-quality content. It assumes values such as impartiality, veracity, and confidentiality.
Along with these aims and scope, DeporVida massively publishes as part of an issue, full text, in Spanish, English, and Portuguese scholarly contributions. Its articles are original, revision, and reflection works. It is a continuous publication, meaning that submissions are received throughout the year and content will be made available as it meets the rigor standards derived from reviews and peer evaluation, as well as the level of originality and ethics throughout the process.
Teachers, researchers, and the students´ community within the country and abroad are the final audience, and professionals from these areas in general; besides all who are interested in increasing their knowledge in this scope of science.
This journal is certified as a Periodical Scientific - Technical Publication because it complies with the certification requirements within the Resolution 59/2003 of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of the Republic of Cuba.
It publishes, spreads and encourages the Open Access policy. Therefore, any person can access and use digital resources and information without restrictions. This means that all the texts in this Journal are accessible, free to read, download, research, copy, distribute and create links to the full texts of articles to index them, pass them to databases or use them with any other legal purpose. Similarly, it helps accessing to open scientific works.
Consequently, both the journal and all the articles within, have the Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial-Share Alike 4.0 International License. So, authors do not have to pay to submit their works, or to redistribute the materials in any format. Works can be downloaded and storage for free.
This journal uses the LOCKSS and PKP system to create a distributed archiving system among partner libraries, allowing them to create permanent archives of the jornual for preservation and restoration purposes.
The development of the journal DeporVida is possible due to the following persons: editorial staff, scientific board, referees and reviewers. Only the best contributions are published to achieve a national and worldwide prestige of the academy and professional community. In this regard, the scientific publication results from the knowledge that is been produced. Furthermore, it must be as rigorous as the knowledge generation process itself.
Reviewers are not part of the Editorial or the Scientific Board of the Journal. They are known as external reviewers. This is a practice carried out as an international standard to recognize the journals´ prestige at the time it allows a rigorous and objective review.
The process within the editorial management is transparent. Impartiality, veracity and confidentiality are all-important along the publishing process. Editors and reviewers assume these values. Likewise, following the principles of transparency and equity in the dissemination of knowledge, our publication does not charge article processing fees (NO APC), nor fees for submission or publication.
Agility in the editorial management is evidenced in including the real dates of the submissions´ reception, acceptance and publication. The reviewers’ and the editor´s comments and suggestions (to review and accept a submission have a month) are sent to the main author who must reply as soon as possible (within the next month).
The selection of the submissions to be published is based on the quality and rigor of the arguments and the validity of the data presented, opportunity and relevance to discuss problems in a certain research area, originality and topicality, clarity of the language, easy to understand writing evidenced in the precision of terms and accurate phrases, comprehension of what it is explained and in the fulfillment of the authors’ ethical criteria. Reviewers do not decide whether an article is accepted or not. It is the general editor´s decision to take.
DeporVida only publishes original articles that are not submitted to any other journal simultaneously. It puts special emphasis on the originality of the works, as well as plagiarism detection and redundant publications, forgery or changed data. Serious errors related to ethics are considered as scientific frauds. It does not take responsibility for the authors’ ideas and does not contain or accepts advertising materials.
DeporVida rejects any type of discrimination along the process; race discrimination of any kind are also avoided; against the woman; homophobia; trans-phobia; and bi-phobia; sexual orientation and discrimination on the basis of gender, or disability is not allowed; migratory workers and their families; child exploitation, sex abuse, prostitution and child pornography; intolerance and persecution for religious ideas; in general, against discrimination on the basis of language, age, political opinions or others, national or social origin, national minority membership, fortune, birth or any other situation, and against genocide crime.
Accordingly, DeporVida does not admit contributions containing any of the above.
Indexing
In October 2021, the journal was included in the Directory and in the Latindex 2.0 catalog. In January 2022, following an invitation from the Ibero-American Network of Innovation and Scientific Knowledge (REDIB), the journal was accepted onto this platform. Since April 2022, DeporVida has been included in the bibliographic database CLASE (Citations of Latin America in Social Sciences and Humanities) (Biblat), and a month later in DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), MIAR (Matrix of Information for the Analysis of Journals), Citefactor, and EuroPub.
