Leadership development strategy for the management of high-performance sports in Cuba

Leadership management is currently of vital importance for the growth and development of high-performance sports management in Cuba. This issue has generally been under-researched in the country, underscoring the relevance of this study. The article stems from research titled "Leadership Management Model for High-Performance Sports Management in Cuba." A key component of this model is a development strategy, which is the focus of this article. To achieve the objective of formulating a leadership development strategy for high-performance sports management in Cuba, the study employed both theoretical and empirical methods, including: analytic-synthetic, inductive-deductive, document analysis, modeling, the systemic-structural-functional approach, the PMI (Plus-Minus-Interesting) technique, and statistical-mathematical analysis. The strategy is presented with a logical structure—developed based on the criteria of various authors and tailored to the specific needs of the context under study—covering the theoretical-methodological basis, the general objective, and an action plan comprising 19 specific strategies (each with its own specific objectives, actions, and timeline). Additionally, the article describes the strategy's distinguishing characteristics, implementation requirements, and suggestions for decision-making regarding potential adaptations and adjustments. Application of the PMI technique with 23 specialists revealed a trend toward positive and interesting aspects. Three conclusions summarize the results achieved.
