Criterion for detection of talents of 10-12 years for basketball

Abstract

The search for gifted subjects, in possession of a specific talent to achieve success in a given area, has occupied the time and dedication of numerous researchers. The selection of sports talents is perhaps one of the most difficult processes in sport, not only because of its importance, but also because of the problems involved in predicting and securing results. To reach the elite, basketball requires a type of players with very specific characteristics: anthropometric, physiological, technical-tactical, psychological. Therefore, there’s a process that continuously seeks to detect talents in basketball, in order to train, prepare and lead them to high competition. This paper has as purpose to reflect on the criteria for the detection of talents of 10-12 years for the detection of talents of 10-12 years for basketball.
