Original articles
It is the main publication of a scientific journal and final product of a research. Within this category are included the articles of sports sciences studies (teaching and research of studies related to this scope of action, physical health and sports); likewise, those derived from technological innovations. The journal DeporVida prioritizes this kind of articles. Works are considered long when they have 6 000 words (abstract, figures’ captions and referencing are not included), no more than six tables or figures are accepted, and up to six authors are allowed.
Structure
Title: it is essential to get the potential readers’ attention. It will be brief, accurate and clear evidencing the most significant aspects of the work. Avoid using phrases such as research about, study about, formulas, as well. It will give a precise idea of the content of the article and allow its retrieval and indexing. It is recommended it has no more than 15 words.
Abstract: short structured text (introduction, objective, methods, results and conclusions) in a single paragraph up to 250 words. There will be no interpretations included, neither reviews, nor cites, tables, numbers or mathematical expressions. References to figures or images within the text are not mentioned either. Its English and Portuguese translations must be included. If meaningful words are used, it will be easier to retrieve the text on line.
Keywords: they are needed for the retrieval of information. Up to five words will be enough; like in the abstract, must be in both English and Portuguese. They will appear right after the abstract in the corresponding language. The following thesauruses are recommended:
- UNESCO Thesaurus (controlled and structured list of terms for the thematic analysis, document search and publications regarding education, culture, natural, social and human sciences and communication and information)
Main text
Introduction: it will tell about the nature of the problem, the reason why it was chosen and scope, from general to particular. It will indicate the context or the research background (for instance, the nature of the problem and importance) evidencing the specific objective or purpose of the research and hypothesis to work with. References will be included which demonstrate how current the topic is and its originality. Its writing will lead to its full reading.
Methods: section which is written in Simple past tense; one of the most common ways to do so, is the following:
Research general aspects: type, design and scope. Likewise, dates or periods of the study are identified here.
Sample: the study participating individuals or elements the sample is made of (documents, spaces, etc.) and inclusion/exclusion criteria. Strategies and sampling techniques (probabilism or not probabilism). Statistics´ feasibility and sample precision (trust, margin of error, etc.)
Instruments: the explanation of the instruments used for data retrieval, variables, dimensions, indicators, its design, construction, validity and feasibility; likewise, its suitability justification to reach the objectives set. At this point, the process to retrieve the data must be explained here.
System to treat data: preparation of the data base, software used to retrieve the information and systems used to treat data.
Ethical aspects: statement for the fulfillment of the research ethical guidelines (for example: ethical committee, informed consent and information treatment, among other details permitting to identify how carefully the sample has been treated).
Results: they should objectively present the data obtained in an accurate and precise writing. It is the shortest part of the work; data which are not relevant for the research will not be included. Graphs, diagrams or any other illustrative forms of the text will not be used, unless they are considered necessary to support the exposition. Remember not to use them too much in order to avoid redundancy.
Discussion: here the new and relevant aspects of the research will be emphasized. Data included in both the sections Introduction or Results will not be repeated; at the time others new not presented in the Results will not be incorporated either. It will be declared how these results are related or affect others already known regarding the stated problem; also possible agreements or conflicts with other publications on the same topic studied, even possible implications in other areas. The limitations of the study will be also presented and suggestions of new research to complete the aspects not mentioned will be added; furthermore, the recommendations for a future development of the topic.
Conclusions: they will answer to the objectives of the study regarding the results and discussion. Emphatic assertions will not be included, the same way conclusions that are not being supported by data. Use the Simple present to write them.
References: include all the necessary information to allow any reader who may want so, indicate and locate the cited documents within the article. Information will be precise, reason why the registered data and cited within the text must be revised and referenced carefully, according to the original source, so they coincide with each other. Include only those materials cited or paraphrased in the text.

Review articles
The review article is considered as a detailed, selective and critical study integrating essential information through a united and cooperative perspective. It is a certain kind of research article that without being original compiles the most relevant information of a specific topic. Its final objective is to review the published bibliography and give them some perspective.
A review article´s topic is very general regardless the research articles. Bibliography review is, without question, the main product. However, the best review articles are definitely more than just a group of bibliography gathered. Its main objective aims at identifying what it is known of the topic, what it has been researched and what aspects remain unknown.
Kinds of revisions
The first consists of a thorough analysis of everything that has been published. It is about an article of commented bibliography; those are works very long, specialized and they do not offer precise information to a professional interested in answering a scientific query.
The second one, descriptive review, updates the reader on useful concepts regarding areas in constant development. This kind of revision is very useful for teaching, at the time it will interest many people from similar areas because reading good revisions is the best way to be up to date in our general areas of interest.
Evaluative review complies with a specific query concerning etiologists, diagnosis, clinical or therapeutic aspects. This type of perusal is currently known as clinical questions based on scientific evidence.
- The fourth type of review includes the clinical cases combined with bibliographical review.
These are considered as long articles with up to 5 000 words (abstract, figures’ captions and referencing are not included), no more than six tables or figures are allowed and up to three authors.

Introduction: it defines the current state of the topic and how it is behaved within the national, regional and global context. It is essential that the scientific problem that motivated the review is supported; also describing clearly the work´s objectives, its importance as well as the utility of the revision.
Methods: eligibility criteria: specify the eligibility criteria used along the review (for example, years considered, languages, state of the publication) to justify it. Information sources: describe every single source used in the search (for example, databases, dates of the searches and dates of the last search). Criterion and validation of the consulted sources selection are also considered; amount of articles by kind (original articles, thesis, and systematic reviews), as well.
Results and discussion: these will be written together and they will constitute the main part of the article. The most relevant details from the reviewed articles will be highlighted here, and the discussed and explained synthesis of the results. Both differences and coincidences with other research on the topic will be discussed; also, limitations in the research and the knowledge insufficiencies. It will express the critical opinion on the reviewed issue. It will include figures and tables emphasizing the most relevant aspects, avoiding information repetitions.
Conclusions: they will clearly answer to the stated objective. Inferences drawn from the review, new hypothesis and precise future lines of investigation are presented.
References: include all the necessary information to allow any reader who may want so, indicate and locate the cited documents within the article. Information will be precise, reason why the registered data and cited within the text must be revised and referenced carefully, according to the original source, so they coincide with each other. Hence, this article is of subjective nature as it allows stating reflections, points of view and the author-researcher´ assessments, derived or maintained from the research findings.
They are short articles up to 3 000 words (abstract, figures´ captions and referencing are not included); no more than two tables or figures and up to three authors are allowed.
These articles will have the following structure: introduction, development, conclusions and references.
Structure

Avoid using phrases such as research about, study about, formulas, as well. It will give a precise idea of the content of the article and allow its retrieval and indexing. It is recommended it has no more than 15 words.
Abstract: Short-structured text (introduction, objective, methods, results and conclusions) in a single paragraph up to 250 words. It presents a thesis or assertion on the topic (usually expressed in two or four lines) and then a synthesis of what was presented in every subject matter within the development. It will be true to what it was explained in the article. Cites, tables, numbers, references or mathematical expressions, will not be included. There will be no reference to figures or text images. Its English and Portuguese translations must be included. If meaningful words are used, it will be easier to retrieve the text on line.

Introduction
The following main elements are within:
- General subject matter comprising the topic or scope of study.
- Different positions; it means, the most common or relevant opinions on the topic.
- Author´s position: is the author bet on relation to the topic. Here is where the main objectives to be developed in the text are mentioned.
Development
Here, ideas, arguments and reflections are coherently presented. It is very common to use subheadings for a more clear argument and correctly sequencing of the author´s persuasive purpose.
Conclusions: it may have a dialog nature and the aforementioned reflections will be re-evaluated, to fully convince readers of the author-researcher position. Besides, it will constitute a scenario for the self-criticism, limitations or possible variables in future research.
